Unbeknown to many Colon Cancer
is ever-growing, ranking as the second leading
cause of cancer
deaths in the United States. However, 90% of these deaths
are preventable and go undetected until the final stages of Colon
Cancer has already begun. Strides for Life is a Bay
Area born non- profit organization founded in memory of
Dylan Cappel whose life was taken by Colon Cancer at the age of 23.
Since his passing, our organization has remained fully committed to
raising awareness, prevention and detection of this disease through
educational and outreach programs.

How can YOU make a difference?
Strides for Life needs your help to change the status of colon cancer. Despite its high survival rate when caught in the early stages, colon cancer continues to kill over
Strides for Life Walk/Run at Lake Merced
October 23rd marked our 8th Annual Get Your Rear in Gear Walk/Run at Lake Merced! It was a beautiful day in San Francisco that was kicked off by Dr. Lawrence Cappel and Speaker Pro Temp Fiona Ma. C.C. the Giant Colon wasn't the only star that morning, all 1,100 of our participants made their presence know as they snaked around the lake. The Strides for Life breakfast crew had their work cut out for them as the first place male runner finished the 4 miles in 22 minutes! The pancake breakfast was a perfect way to relax after the race. Excitement and celebration filled the air when Executive Director, Ayde Vogl, annouced that we had raised a record $80,000! Anngi's Angels lead the pack with team fundrasing, while Joan Innes stole the show with her individual contribution. It was a great day to be had by all! Strides for Life would like to say a big Thank You to all of our sponsors, volunteers, and of course participants for making this 8th Annual Walk so amazing! Keep an eye out for details about our 9th Annual Walk. We hope to see you there!
